Pall Showcases Technologies for Solar Energy Industry

Pall Corporation, a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, will showcase economical and eco-friendly products and systems for the photovoltaic (PV) industry at Intersolar in San Francisco. These products are designed to help increase yield and reduce reworking times in solar cell production processes.

Pall will feature its fully automatic Water Reclaim System for recovering over 90 percent of deionized water used during silicon ingot shaping. The system efficiently and economically removes the resultant silicon fines without the need for chemical additives, providing essentially particle-free water for cost-effective recycling. A major supplier of shaping and grinding tools for the solar industry highly recommends this reclaim system.

In addition, Pall will display its range of products for the filtration and purification of process gases used in Czochralski (CZ) ingot pullers and in sputtering, thermal deposition and distribution equipment. By providing highly efficient filtration (as fine as 3 nanometer particle retention) and very effective molecular contamination removal, these products help PV manufacturers reduce or eliminate defects in silicon thin films and monocrystalline ingots. They are manufactured with less raw material and energy than standard filters and purifiers and use environmentally friendly packaging.

Another exhibit will highlight Blowback Filtration Systems for the protection of CZ ingot puller vacuum pumps. There will be a display of innovative filters and uniquely designed housings for chemical and water filtration. The system and products provide long-term service without the interruption of frequent change-outs, increasing uptime and reducing maintenance costs for solar cell producers.
