More than 740 members and guests representing more than 231 companies attended the 2009 Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) annual meeting held recently at Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla.
"Members come to the Annual Meeting to network and get to know one another," said ILMA executive director Celeste Powers. "We design every meeting with networking in mind, and that's what keeps members coming back year after year."
"ILMA hit a home run with the Miami meeting," said Mike Ogburn of August Mack Environmental. "You know you've attended a first-class event when you look back at your day and realize that you solidified existing client relationships, developed and nurtured future prospects and attended a variety of meetings on topics of concern to ILMA members.
In addition to the networking sessions, the meeting hosted a very special keynote speaker, humorist and author Dave Barry, who spoke about his family and life in South Florida. Following Barry's address, Jim Taglia delivered an update on the Association's Ethics and Branding programs, which have become a hallmark of ILMA's commitment to raising the bar for our industry.
Plans are already in the works for the 2010 meetings, including the 2010 Management Forum at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, Calif., and the 2010 ILMA Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Grand Champions Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, Calif.
The Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) was founded in 1948. ILMA's 273 members include independent lubricant companies that produce more than 25 percent of all lubricants and 80 percent or more of the metalworking fluids and other specialty industrial lubricants sold in the U.S., and key suppliers of raw materials and services to independent lubricant manufacturers.
