Pall Corporation was recently awarded ASM’s prestigious Engineering Materials Achievement Award (EMAA) for 2011 for porous iron aluminide technology. This novel technology marries the best properties of metal and ceramic to enable more economical production of cleaner burning fuels. Dr. Henkel was a key member of the team that propelled this product to success.
ASM fellows are selected for outstanding contributions to research, education and advances that improve the quality of life. “Dr. Henkel exemplifies the leadership and expertise of our materials science organization that is driving the development of new filtration media platforms.” said Dr. Michael Egholm, Pall's chief technology officer.” Pall is committed to fostering a strong culture of innovation and the commercialization of differentiated products to meet customer needs. We congratulate Dr. Henkel on this impressive achievement.”
After receiving his master’s degree in metallurgy at Lehigh University, Dr. Henkel received his Ph.D. in materials science as a National Science Foundation Scholar and under a NASA training grant for studies in aluminum-lithium alloys. He has been a frequent course instructor and guest lecturer for ASM local chapters. The Fellow award will be formally presented at the annual ASM Intl. awards banquet, which will be held in Houston on October 19.
