The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA) recently reported that RelaDyne has recalled defective motor oil sold under the "Bullet" brand name.
The recall was made after PQIA issued a consumer alert on Bullet 5W-30 motor oil. PQIA’s test results showed the product did not meet requirements of the SC/CC specification it claimed or any other industry-recognized specification for motor oils. In addition, it was determined that the product’s extremely low viscosity and lack of additives likely would result in engine damage.
The recall affects Bullet 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40 grades. The product involved in the recall is identified with red caps. Bullet motor oil is distributed by Oil Distributing Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio, a RelaDyne company.
"We are extremely serious and committed to providing the best products and services to our customers in all markets that we serve," said Larry Stoddard, RelaDyne's chief executive officer. "This was an isolated and unfortunate occurrence in which we have taken every reasonable step to rectify."
PQIA was created to serve lubricant consumers by testing and reporting on the quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace.
