Engineered Custom Lubricants (ECL) recently announced the acquisition of Lubricant Technology Inc. (LTI), the Ohio-based manufacturer of Christo-Lube brand synthetic lubricants.

"Acquisitions are a critical part of our growth strategy," said Ian Rowell, president of ECL. "Our next acquisition, planned for 2014, will be in Europe to accelerate our expansion in the region."

An ISO/TS 16949:2009 and ISO 9001:2008 company founded in 1989, LTI develops, manufactures and markets Christo-Lube synthetic lubricants based on fluorinated polysiloxanes, perfluoropolyethers (PFPE), esters, polyalphaolefins (PAO) and synthetic hydrocarbon co-oligomers. It currently serves the automotive, military/aerospace, medical, semiconductor, corrugated box, food, medical/industrial gas and general industrial markets.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of growth initiatives ECL has undertaken since it was purchased in 2010 by Bedford and Rowell. In 2010, the company commissioned new warehouses in Belgium and China. In 2011, it relocated from its facility in Plymouth, Mich., to its newly constructed headquarters in Aurora, Ill.  In 2012, ECL expanded its manufacturing capacity by 30,000 square feet, established a subsidiary in Germany and announced a future European manufacturing facility scheduled to be operational in 2014.

Founded in 1954, Engineered Custom Lubricants designs, manufactures, markets and sells first-fill greases and coatings for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their suppliers in Asia, Europe and the Americas. For more information, visit www.ecllube.com.
