Afton Chemical Corp., a global leader in the lubricant and fuel additive market, recently completed a $278 million expansion of its chemical additive manufacturing facility in Jurong Island, Singapore. The expansion is expected to kick-start production of the company's advanced ashless dispersants and anti-wear components, as well as enhance its support network in Asia-Pacific.

"This facility was key to Afton's plans to ensure that our products are made in Asia for Asia," said Gina Harm, Afton Chemical's president. "Our Jurong Island plant now has the full capability to produce core engine oil additives that we need for the Asia-Pacific region. We are also proud to say that we are investing in advanced technologies that will contribute toward longer-term goals of reducing carbon emissions."

Afton began its Singapore manufacturing operations in May 2016 when it announced the opening of its Jurong Island plant. This latest expansion will increase the company's workforce in Singapore by 123 percent.

The new facility will house state-of-the-art equipment and be the first Afton plant to offer integrated management systems and automated full traceability. Occupying approximately 489,757 square feet, it will continue production of key components used in engine oil additive packages such as zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP), anti-wear additives, ashless dispersants and sulfonate detergents.
