Petro-Canada recently launched a new line of engine oils for mixed fleets that include mobile natural gas engines. Duron Geo LD is specially formulated to extend oil drain intervals while providing all-weather performance and engine protection.

Approved by major diesel engine manufacturers such as Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mack and Volvo, the new lubricants consist of SAE 15W-40 and SAE 10W-30 grade oils. They are also API CK-4 licensed and approved for the latest Cummins natural gas engine oil specification CES 20092, as well as fully back-serviceable to Cummins CES 20085 specifications.

The low-volatility base oils are intended to decrease vaporization so less oil is lost, efficiency is improved, and the oil retains more of its fresh oil properties to reduce top-up frequency. The optimized shear-stable viscosity modifier helps to maintain the oil’s viscosity for reduced engine wear and improved engine protection over the life of the lubricant.

"Duron Geo LD is an exciting, new, innovative product specifically designed to meet and exceed the needs of fleets that operate compressed natural gas and liquified natural gas vehicles while also offering performance suitable for diesel- and gasoline-powered engines," said Barnaby Ngai, category manager for heavy-duty engine and driveline oils at Petro-Canada Lubricants.
