WHITE PAPER:
Analysis of Wear Metals in New and Used Oil
While the analysis of new and used oil for concentration trends of wear metals and for formulation or depletion of additive package metals has been around for more than 30 years, many improvements have been made since the inception of inductively coupled plasma. The most recent is the removal of the load coil used to generate the plasma. The new Flat Plate plasma technology replaces the traditional helical-coil design and produces a plasma that is compact, dense and robust. This paper details how the Flat Plate system generates a plasma with a flat bottom that minimizes the escape of sample and vapors around the outside of the plasma, increasing the ease of organic sample analysis and reducing the cost.
