WHITE PAPER:
Measuring Gross Water Contamination in Turbine and Industrial Oils with FluidScan and Homogenizer Preparation
Water contamination in turbine oils can be a very serious issue. The most widely accepted method for detecting water in oil is Karl Fischer coulometric titration, but it can be somewhat cumbersome, requiring hazardous reagents, careful sample preparation, expensive equipment and at least several minutes per analysis. This paper outlines a new method of measuring water contamination that can be both accurate and reliable as well as provide an immediate alert of severe contamination.
