A superior way to maintain engine oil quality on high-mileage vehicles is to install a bypass oil filter. This can remove particles and even contaminants from engine oil. Fleet maintenance facilities generate hundreds of used oil filters every year. Managing and disposing of used oil filters can be expensive. An alternative to this is the use of reusable filters. Using reusable oil filters eliminates oil filter waste generation, reduces onsite oil filter inventory, eliminates draining and crushing of used filters, and eliminates waste filter storage and disposal. In most cases, reusable oil filters last the life of the vehicle. The filter is simply removed, cleaned with a parts washer and replaced.
